'Duke Mathematical Journal' is an American mathematical research journal published by Duke University Press. It was founded in 1935.
David WidderWidder at Math Genealogy Project, Arthur CobleCoble's Genealogy and Joseph Miller ThomasThomas' Genealogy were the founding editors. The first issue included a paper by Solomon Lefschetz.
Leonard Carlitz served on the editorial board for 35 years, from 1938 to 1973.
The current managing editor is Jonathan Wahl at UNC.
Currently DMJ is ranked 10th10th as of 2005; given as 12th at DMJ page in impact, among 170 mathematics research journals ranked by the Institute for Scientific Information. The Impact Factor for DMJ is given as about 1.3; the median impact factor for recorded mathematics journals about 0.46. For comparison, Advances in Mathematics (commonly understood to be exceptionally influential, but which publishes relatively few articles) is 0.99.
