DUKE OF ALBEMARLE
The 'Dukedom of Albemarle' has been created twice in the Peerage of England, each time ending in extinction. Additionally, the peerage was "created" a third time by James II, while in exile; this creation, given to Henry FitzJames, is generally not considered a true creation of this peerage. ''See also Earl of Albemarle.'' And there is another Jacobite Dukedom of Albemarle from 1721 which became extinct in 1776 on the second duke's death.
