'Dull Gret', also known as 'Mad Meg', is the Anglicized version of ''Dulle Griet'', a figure of Flemish folklore who is the subject of a 1562 painting by Pieter Brueghel the Elder. The painting depicts a peasant woman who leads an army of women to pillage Hell.
She appears as a minor character in Caryl Churchill's 1982 play ''Top Girls''.
She is also the subject of a 1640s painting by Flemish painter David Teniers the Younger. [1]
