DUNIA ELVIR
'Dunia Elvir' (born on June 09, 1973 in La Ceiba, Honduras) is a journalist and TV news reporter and producer.
Since Dunia Elvir's family moved to the United States, she started her career in California in a Mexican Radio in 1989, later she moved to KRCA Channel 62 in Los Angeles, California as reporter and TV news presenter [1][2].
Since 2000 she works for Telemundo in Los Angeles [3]. She is also correspondent of TV programme: "Cada día con Maria Antonieta" (Every day with Maria Antonieta Collins)[4]. Elvir also reports for Al Rojo Vivo, Noticiero Telemundo and Cotorreando as well.
She has interviewed Salma Hayek, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Vicente Fox, Tony Saca, Rosario Marin (former US Treasurer), Ricardo Maduro (former Honduras President)and his ex-wife the former first Lady Aguas Santas Ocaña Navarro, Jose Manuel Zelaya Rosales (current Honduras President) and first Lady Xiomara de Zelaya, Antonio Villarraigosa (L.A. Mayor), the first Lady of Guatemala etc...
On 2006 she travelled to Central America to work on various special reports that showed the beauties of El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. She also covered el Cucuy de la Mañana "Votos por America" tour.
She was nominated for the Prestigious "Emmy Award" in the category of Best Investigative Report in LA in 2001. She also won the "Golden Mike" with a report called ''Corners of Sin'' as the Best Investigative Report of the year.
Dunia has various special recognitions from the Los Angeles City, Los Angeles County, The State of California Senate, and Members of the US Congress among others.
Dunia also won the Glaad award on 2005.
Elvir has received many recognitions because of her reports on human stories[5].
She was invited as a special guest to visit the White House by The National Association of Latina Leaders (NALL)[6].
