EPCOR
EPCOR, formerly known as 'Edmonton Power' is a utility company based in Edmonton, Alberta, which generates and supplies electricity in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and several U.S. States. Additionally, EPCOR manages numerous municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities throughout Alberta and British Columbia.
Created in 1970, the company history dates back to Edmonton Electric Lighting and Power Company formed in 1891. The name EPCOR was introduced in 2001. The City of Edmonton is EPCOR's sole shareholder.
In 2007, Epcor was named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers, as published in Maclean's magazine, the only combined water and electricity utility to receive this honour.[1]
