EARL OF BELLOMONT

The title of 'Earl of Bellomont' was created twice in the Peerage of Ireland.
The first time it was created on 9 December 1680 for Charles Henry Kirkhoven, who had been created 'Baron Wotton' on 31 August 1650. On his death in 1683, both titles became extinct.
The second creation was on 2 November 1689 for the later Governor of New York Richard Coote who was also Member of Parliament for Droitswich. After his death in 1701, his both sons succeeded him. The 1st Earl succeeded the Earl of Mountrath as 'Viscount Coote' and 'Baron Coote' in 1683. All the titles became extinct on the 4th Earl's death in 1802.
