The 'Eastern Mediterranean University' (Turkish: ''Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi'') is located in the northern part of Cyprus in the defacto state; Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The university has 50 departments offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, as well as a research infrastructure, and the medium of instruction is entirely in English. The university library is one the largest on the island, and offers free access to hundreds of information databases and sources to the users.
The library also provides interlibrary loan system thus making it easy for research activities. The university's noticeably high standard departments are Physics, Engineering (Mechanical and Electronics), Music, History, English Literature and Humanities, Archaeology and Art History.
The campus is located 10 km from the city of Famagusta. Currently the school enrolls approximately 15,000 students from at least 68 different countries and academic staff from at least 38 different countries. The university was established in 1979 as an institution of higher technology for talented Turkish Cypriots to study engineering at home. In 1986, it was converted to a state-trust-run university.
Many of the graduates have gone on to graduate study in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and Germany.
