★ Melinda Whedon - vocals, instruments
When performing live, Ebon is accompanied by the following band members:
★ J. Phoenix - engineering, instruments (also performs solo as J. Phoenix)
"Ebon" is alias of husband and wife electro rock duo Justin Whedon and Melinda Whedon. Producing together, the duo swiftly caught the ear of the EDM community. August 2002 Ebon shifted their focus from the promotion of club and rave events, to the production of dark tribal house and industrial electro breaks. Since their inception, Ebon has also been creating a buzz performing unique and flawless LIVE sets around the Mid-West and as far away as Juarez, Mexico. Their first promo single 'Sleepless2' was well received by DJ's everywhere, and was soon charted in the March 2003 issue of MUZIK magazine by James Zabiela. Shortly thereafter, legendary house label Hooj Choons licensed 'Sleepless2' for Zabiela's mix CD 'Sound in Motion' as well as including it on the triple unmixed vinyl pack. In 2004 CP Recordings re-released 'Sleepless2' on the E² EP backed with 'Fallen' by Evan Marcus. Next, Ebon's Thermal Imaging Mix of Paul Lancaster's 'Night Vision' was put out on the limited edition label CPR White. Those two releases were just the beginning as Ebon has since released a multitude of tracks, remixes and recently conceived and compiled the 'My Life Remixed' CD, a Remix tribute to My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult released on Red Ant Recordings in February 2005.
March 2005 saw Ebon perform for the first time at Winter Music Conference. April '05 had Ebon performing LIVE one or two times a week all month long at club gigs, raves and even opening for My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult on a mini-tour promoting the 'My Life Remixed' CD.
Ebon recently finished the 'Can't Take It EP' which has a more raw, dance-rock sound. The six songs are all unique and vary from electro to industrial to indie-rock. They are also hard at work in the Remix arena as well having just finished a remix for Ladytron’s ‘Soft Power’, and looking forward to Remixing the likes of The Dandy Warhols and many other exciting projects.
