ECHO BOOM GENERATION

In the Generations theory of William Strauss and Neil Howe, the 'Echo Boom Generation' is a sub-generation in North America and some European countries branching off Generation Y.
The echo boom is an expansive term for children born between 1982 and 1994, when for the first time since 1964, the number of live births exceeded four million. In 1985 and onwards, the number of live birth was that of 1965's 3.760 million. The 1971 birthrate of 17.2% was not surpassed for over thirty years.[1] Children of this generation are called the 'Echo Boomers', being the children of the Baby Boomers. In this time period, there were 74.2 million babies born, slightly under that of the baby boomers, which totaled 76.2 million babies.
In this theory, the generation spans from, and immediately follows, the so-called MTV Generation and immediately precedes the Internet Generation. This generation is significant because they are the last born to appreciate the changes of the digital revolution, and the rise of the internet and computer technology. The "Echo Boomers" are expected to be highly involved in what is sometimes being called Generation C.
