ECO (PREFIX)

'Eco' comes from the ancient Greek word "oikos" (house). It is mostly used as prefix. In this sense it is added to existing words to create another word with a new meaning, mostly related to ecology, such as e.g. in:

★ Ecolabel, suggesting a product is less damaging

★ Ecosphere or ecosystem

★ Ecodriving, initiative for a fuel saving driving style

★ Ecodudette, a female interested/active in helping the environment
