EDWARD ZWICK
'Edward Zwick' (born October 8, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American film director and film producer. He received an A.B from Harvard in 1974. He attended the AFI Conservatory and graduated with an M.F.A. degree in 1975. He is best known for directing the blockbuster hits ''The Last Samurai'' (2003) and ''Blood Diamond'' (2006).
He has been described as a throwback for his thoughtful filmmaking.[1]

Zwick is currently planning to shoot a World War 2 film, Defiance, written by another New Trier grad, Clayton Frohman, which is slated to began shooting in late 2007 and released somehwere in 2008.
Film producer
Along with Marshall Herskovitz, he runs a film production company called The Bedford Falls Company. This company has produced such notable films such as ''Traffic'' and ''Shakespeare in Love'', and the TV shows ''thirtysomething'', ''Once and Again'' and ''My So-Called Life''.
He was one of the recipients of the ''Academy Award for Best Picture'' for ''Shakespeare in Love'', he was also nominated for it for ''Traffic''.
