ELOY PALACIOS

'Eloy Palacios' was born in Maturín, Monagas, Venezuela on June 27, 1847 into one of the richest Eastern families. These circumstances, as well as his natural talent, allowed him to be sent to study in Germany at the age of 10, and polish his artistic talent that would eventually bring him fame in Europe and Latin America.
He returned to Venezuela in 1873 with the dream to start the a faculty of sculpture at the Central University of Venezuela, but as nobody is prophet in his town, he had problems. In 1874 General Antonio Guzmán Blanco was offended by a painting that Palacios did of him, and consequently Palacios went to Trinidad, Costa Rica and again Germany where he established his factory in 1877.
