ENID HIGH SCHOOL
'Enid High School' is a public secondary school in Enid, Oklahoma. With a student body of about 1,300 in grades 10-12, Enid High School has about a 60 percent matriculation rate. Most graduates continue their education in-state at University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, or one of the many other schools in Oklahoma.
Enid High offers its students a wide variety of athletics and extracurriculars, including swimming, football, basketball, soccer, track, tennis, golf, wrestling, baseball, Academic Team, and volleyball. Academically, Enid High offers a plethora of advanced studies for those students seeking a challenge. EHS offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses in U.S. history, Spanish language, European history, government, environmental science, chemistry, biology, calculus, art, computer science, human geography, and literature. Enid High also offers many advanced courses for those seeking a challenge, but not desiring the college-level course work. Further, a number of students are concurrently enrolled at Autry Technology Center or Northern Oklahoma College.
The school's We The People Constitution Team has won the right to represent Oklahoma at the national competition in D.C. 16 times. The drama and debate program is also very prestigious. For the 2006-2007 school year, Enid High School had three state qualifiers for the state speech and debate tournament. April Morrow placed 4th in the state in Dramatic Interpretation, Christian Balden was also named state champion in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking. Their journalism department is also very well-known. ''The Quill News,'' Enid High School's monthly newspaper is completely student-produced under the help of advisor Mrs. Debbie Mueller. For the 2006-2007 school year, they had 3 people win first place at Oklahoma Scholastic Media's state contest and 18 people place. Serena Prammanasudh won first place in Unsigned Editorial and How-To Feature and Jamie Hughes (editor-in-chief for the 2006-2007 school year) won first place in In-Depth Feature and 3rd in Unsigned Editorial. Enid High School's "Big Blue Band" is highly respected and has won many prestigious awards, such as first place at the Catoosa marching contest in 2005 and two state sweepstakes awards within the last four years. EHS also offers a mixed choir, select choir, and show choir.
