EPEIROGENIC MOVEMENT

'Epeirogenic' or continent forming movements, act along the radius of the earth. They are also called radial movements. Their direction maybe towards(subsidence) or away(uplift) from the centre of the earth. They take place over broad areas and are relatively slower than orogenic movements.
It is a set of forces acting along a radius from the earth's centre to the surface and are characterized by large scale upliftments and subsidence of land area. These vertical movements are a result of faulting in the earth's surface.
