EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT ELECTION, 2007


The 'European Parliament election of 2007' is taking place in Bulgaria and Romania who will be electing their members of the European Parliament for the first time[1]. The combined population of the two countries is 29,598,914.
The two countries joined the European Union on January 1 2007, since then they have been represented by members elected by their respective national parliaments who acted as observers before their accession. The last Union-wide election took place in 2004, the next one, with Romania and Bulgaria, will take place in 2009.

Bulgarian election: voters elected 18 MEPs on 20 May 2007.

Romanian election: voters will elect 35 MEPs on 25 November 2007.
