EWING CHRISTIAN COLLEGE


'Ewing Christian College', one of the oldest colleges established in India. It was a initiative of East India Company and was established in first decade of 19th century and at that time it was named as Vernacular school. In the mean time its governance had been shifted to Presbatarian Church. Initially it was named as Allhabd Christian Colege and in 1910 it acquires it name as Dr Arthur H. Ewing, the first principle died. Initially only the classes for intermediate were going on and later on in 1903 onwards even post graduate classes were started. In 1922 on the account of New University Act it has lost its college status. In 1935 the system of co eduacation began. In 1950 after the permission of Allahabd University the classes for the degree students began and once again it acquires a college status. And finally in 1995 it has achieved autonomus status and it becames on of Famous autonomus college of India.
