FK ŽALGIRIS VILNIUS
'FK Žalgiris' is a Lithuanian football club, playing in the capital, Vilnius. They won the Lithuanian Championship three times: 1991, 1992, and 1999. The team's colors are green and white. The club plays at the Žalgiris stadium (capacity 15,030).Recently the club celebrated its 60th anniversary.However,few weeks later,FC Zalgiris was crushed in Baltic Football League by Lithuanian champion FBK Kaunas with a score of 1:9.It is the biggest defeat Zalgiris suffered in those 60 years.

Soviet times
During the Soviet era, Žalgiris, a part of the republican VSS with the same name, was by far the best Lithuanian team. Their best finish in the Soviet Elite League was third in 1987, the year they made their first appearance in the UEFA Cup. That year, Žalgiris represented the Soviet Union at the World University Games in Yugoslavia, and won the tournament, beating South Korea in the final 5-0.
