The Falcon's Eye project has not been active since July 3, 2001 with the release of version 1.9.3 and is still based on a much older NetHack. The author still claims he is working on the project; nonetheless, the lack of any signs of further development work in several years led to the creation of a fork: Vulture's Eye. However, some developers have released at least one unofficial update since then; version "1.9.4a", for instance, is in the portage tree.
