 | Marche de Fetishes (Voodoo Market) Visited a juju (voodoo) market in Lome, Togo after my trip from Burkina Faso. This market is the largest and unfortunately most touristy compared to others in Lome. These were all brought over from Benin, where the juju practice originated. |

 | Mali - Nature/People slideshow w/ bird calls Photos of animals and nature, and some of the things people do with/in them. Sound is excerpts of 30-minute recording made on Niger River bank near gardens at Peace Corps training site upstream of Bamako. Bird calls include the tandem whoop/chat-chat of the yellow-crowned gonolek (AKA Barbary shrike), plus wood and vinaceous doves. (The bird sounds don't match up with bird pictures though.) Most pics taken in the Mande Region during my Peace Corps service 1992-94, some during 2005 visit. Bambara/Malinke names of fish included. |
