FLIES GRAVEYARD

Flies cemetery, available with or without sugar icing topping.

'Flies Graveyard' or 'Flies Cemetery' are nicknames used in various parts of the United Kingdom for sweet pastries filled with currants or raisins, which are the "flies" in the "graveyard" or "cemetery". In Scotland the formal name is ''fruit slice'' or ''fruit squares''. In Northern Ireland the formal term is ''currant squares''.
The mixture is similar to sweet mince pies which are traditionally eaten at Christmas time in the United Kingdom.
