'Foix' () is a small town and commune, the ''préfecture'' (capital) of the Ariège ''département'' in France. It is the least populous administrative center of a ''département'' in all of France (1999 census), although it is only very slightly smaller than Privas. It lies south of Toulouse, close to the border with Spain and Andorra.
