'Forst' (Sorbian ''Baršć'') is a town in Brandenburg, Germany. It lies east of Cottbus, on the German-Polish border. It is the capital of the Spree-Neiße district.[1] It is known for its rose garden and textile museum. It is part of the region of Lausitz (Lusatia) and is experiencing severe problems as a result of Germany's reunification. In the past, the town was known for textile manufacturing, but all textile plants have closed down in recent years. The town's population is approximately 22,000 (note that this figure includes the population in the outlying regions).
