FOUR WINDS WESTWARD HO

'Four Winds Westward Ho' is a popular camp on Orcas Island, Washington. It features many activities, and goes for four weeks per session. It was started in 1927 by Ruth Brown as Four Winds, a camp for girls, with Westward Ho, the boys' camp, nearby. When the boys lodge burned down, the two camps merged to form Four Winds Westward Ho. Four Winds, or FWWH, as it is often referred to, has many different activities and a warm environment with music playing a big role. The camp has a longstanding tradition of big-boat sailing, and has owned such famous boats as the Schooner Martha, the Red Jacket, the Adventuress, and the Dorade. Four Winds' current boat is a 68-foot yawl named "Carlyn" which is takes campers on various trips around the Puget Sound and to Canada.
