FOX MOVIE CHANNEL
'Fox Movie Channel', formerly 'fXM', is a television channel that concentrates on showing movies uncut and commercial-free. Fox Movie Channel mostly shows movies from 20th Century Fox's library from the mid-1930s to the 1990s, including some television movies. Both pan and scan and letterbox versions are shown whenever both versions are available. All films shown on Fox Movie Channel are uncut and unedited. Original programming consists primarily of commentary about the movies.
The channel was launched on October 31, 1994 as ''fXM - Movies from Fox''. On March 1, 2000 the name was changed to Fox Movie Channel. FMC's primary competitor is Turner Classic Movies, which mostly shows movies from the MGM, RKO and Warner Brothers libraries. The program schedule once consisted almost entirely of older, classic 20th Century Fox films. However, that has lately changed and the older movies are shown in the daytime, while the more recent ones are shown on prime time.
