'François Raffoul' received his doctorate at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales in 1995 and is currently Associate Professor of Philosophy at Louisiana State University.
A student of Jacques Derrida, Raffoul is the author, editor, and translator of numerous works on Martin Heidegger, Jacques Lacan, Juan-David Nasio, Jean-Luc Nancy, and contemporary French philosophy. His research has focused on continental theories of subjectivity and in particular its ethical dimensions. He has emphasized the role of responsibility and ethics in Heidegger's thought and revitilizing the phenomenological concept of facticity.
