FRINTON-ON-SEA RAILWAY STATION

'Frinton-on-Sea railway station' serves the town of Frinton-on-Sea in Essex, England. The station is immediately to the west of a level crossing that provides road access to Frinton. Residents of the town who live 'inside' the gates of the level crossing attach a particular status to this fact. The gates are currently (2007) manually operated wooden gates, but there are proposals to replace these as the Clacton and Walton lines are resignalled, presumably with power-operated lifting barriers, which is certain to prove controversial among the residents.
The station's name was changed from 'Frinton' to Frinton-on-Sea in May 2007[1].
