GWR 4073 CLASS 5029 NUNNEY CASTLE
5029 Nunney Castle is a GWR 4073 Class locomotive built in May 1934. It was withdrawn in December 1963 and sent to Woodhams' Scrapyard in Barry, South Wales[1]in May 1964. It was sold to the Great Western Society and rescued from Woodham's in May 1976. Seen pulling "The Elgar Explorer" at Ascot Under Wychwood in December 2001 (personal sighting). Presently is at Tyseley for an intermediate overhaul (December 2005). Recent (28/12/05) information indicates that it now belongs to Jeremy Hosking. Expected to return to the main line late 2007.
