'Gail Sheridan' is currently an activist in Solidarity (Scotland), after being an activist in the Scottish Socialist Party from 1999 to 2006. In 2003 she stood as a local councillor for Glasgow Cardonald. She works as an air hostess and married Tommy Sheridan, SSP convenor at the time, in 2000. They have one child.
She was heavily involved in the 2006 court case Sheridan v News International in which her husband sued the ''News of the World'' for defamation over allegations that he had committed adultery and attended a swingers' club in Manchester. During the case when asked if she would have given evidence if she had believed the stories against her husband she said "There is no way I would be here. Neither would you [Tommy Sheridan]. You would be in the Clyde with a piece of concrete tied round you and I would be in court for your murder." [1].
She is currently being investigated for charges related to perjury over the case.[1]
