GEOFF MURPHY

'Geoff Murphy' (born 13 June 1946) is a New Zealand film director, writer and assistant director.
Murphy is best known for early New Zealand films ''Goodbye Pork Pie'', ''Utu'', and ''The Quiet Earth''. Although ''Goodbye Pork Pie'' has almost iconic status in New Zealand, the later two are generally rated his best. [1].
In the 1990s he moved moved to Hollywood and directed several commercially successful big budget movies, before moving back to New Zealand. He later moved to Melbourne, Australia and has been a close friend to Andrew Croswell. Andrew and Geoff worked closely on a number of independant adult films between 2005-2007, none of which have been publically released.
Back in New Zealand he worked for Peter Jackson's on The Lord of the Rings as second unit director before directing his own movie ''Spooked''.
