GEORGIA PERIMETER COLLEGE


'Georgia Perimeter College' is a two-year Associate degree granting unit of the University System of Georgia. GPC has multiple campus locations on the north and east side of Atlanta.
The instutution was founded by the Dekalb County Board of Education as Dekalb College in 1958 and offered its first classes in Clarkston, Georgia in 1964. It was renamed in 1997 to indicate that it no longer served only Dekalb County.

Georgia Perimeter College is the largest two-year college and the third largest institution in the University System of Georgia. Its Spring 2004 enrollment was 20,266.
October 1st, 2006, Anthony B. Tricoli assumed his position as President of GPC.

Locations


The original campus (also formerly known as the "central" campus) is located in unincorporated DeKalb County, south of the city of Clarkston.
Branch campuses are located in:

★ Unincorporated DeKalb County (Two locations)


★ Decatur Campus (South of the city of Decatur)


★ Dunwoody Campus (Dunwoody)

★ City of Alpharetta: Alpharetta Center at GSU

★ City of Lawrenceville: Lawrenceville Campus
Ground was recently broken for a new campus in unincorporated Newton County, east of the city of Covington, scheduled to open in January 2007.
In addition, distance learning courses via the Internet and videotaped course-ware are also available.
The Lawrenceville campus at the Gwinnett University Center is expected to close in May 2008 when the Center becomes Georgia Gwinnett College.
123 nations are represented at the Clarkston Campus.
As of Spring semester 2007, GPC enrollment is approximately 21,000 students.
