GIBSON AMPHITHEATRE

The 'Gibson Amphitheatre' (formerly 'Universal Amphitheatre') is a theatre located in Universal City, California, USA. It was originally built in 1972 as an outdoor venue, but was remodeled and converted into an indoor theatre in 1982. It seats up to 6,189 for concerts, including 6,089 chairback seats (3,900 in the main level and 2,189 in the mezzanine). It is the second-largest theatre in California, behind the Shrine Auditorium, another Los Angeles venue. The theatre is best known for its acoustics and its sightlines, considered the best of any theatre in North America.
The Gibson Amphitheatre

Major events at the Gibson Amphitheatre include the 2005 WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony, the MTV Movie Awards (recently the 2007 MTV Movie Awards), and various musical acts, as well as the annual Teen Choice Awards, and has been the site to acts such as Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Hilary Duff, Madonna, Tina Turner, New Edition, Brian McKnight, Chris Brown, Eric Clapton, Guns N' Roses, Deftones, Britney Spears, The Who, Tenacious D, The Smiths and the inaugural Sounds of the Underground 2006, in which this concert had security running around non-stop due to the frenzied audience.
Bill Gates is said to be using the model of the Amphitheatre for a similar one on his own property supposedly because of the good acoustics that it has.
