GIROD STREET CEMETERY

The 'Girod Street Cemetery' was a small above-ground cemetery established in 1822 for Protestant residents of the Faubourg St. Mary in predominantly Catholic New Orleans, Louisiana. It was deconsecrated in 1957 and excavated in 1970 to make room for construction of the Louisiana Superdome.
