GLENHAVEN, NEW SOUTH WALES

'Glenhaven' is a small residential suburb in Sydney, Australia. It is one of the 29 suburbs of the Shire of Baulkham Hills, in the State of New South Wales, and is also partly in Hornsby Shire. Glenhaven is on the east coast of Australia, approximately 30km northwest of the city centre.
The area was originally called Sandhurst (Glenhaven's most prominent and highest street is Sandhurst Crescent). There was some confusion with mail because of a suburb in Melbourne with the same name. A public meeting was held in 1894 to have the name changed to reflect its valley location: the upper portion of the valley was known as "The Glen", and the lower portion as "The Haven" hence the choice Glenhaven.
As of the ABS census in 2001, the population was 2,742 males, 2,853 females. This comprises approximately 4.0% of the Shire's total population. The population of Glenhaven grew by 9.6% from 1996 to 2001.
Notable citizens from Glenhaven include the singer and actress Delta Goodrem, and actor Dieter Brummer.
Glenhaven Public School is the only Public School in Glenhaven. A school of excellence run by the brilliant Mr Mehmet!
