The following is a 'list of the Governors of the State of Indiana' and Indiana Territory.

1John Gibson is sometimes known as Indiana's second territorial governor. In actuality he only served as acting governor of the Indiana Territory during the absences of Governor William Henry Harrison.
1. Resigned to take elected seat in the United States House of Representatives.
2. Conrad Baker also acted as governor for five months during Governor Morton's term, as he was lieutenant governor when Morton suffered a stroke and handed over executive powers.
3. Resigned following his conviction for mail fraud, and served three years in prison until he was pardoned by President Herbert Hoover in 1927.
4. Governor Daniels' term expires in 2009; he is not yet term limited.

As of August 2007, four former governors were alive, the oldest being Edgar Whitcomb (1969–1973, born 1917). The most recent governor to die was Robert D. Orr (1981–1989), on March 10 2004. The most recently-serving governor to die was Frank L. O'Bannon (1997–2003), in office on September 13 2003.
