'Greater Concepción' (''Gran Concepción'') is the third largest conurbation in Chile, after Greater Santiago and Greater Valparaiso].
It takes its name from the city of Concepción, the oldest and most important city of the group.
The agglomeration is composed by:

★ Concepción

★ Talcahuano

★ Chiguayante

★ San Pedro de la Paz

★ Hualpén

★ Penco
Gran Concepción also has the second largest concentration of universities in Chile. Besides the Traditional Universities, it has several private institutions. The Universidad de Concepción is the most important university in the conurbation.
There is a metro system which serves most of the "comunas" in the conurbation: Biotren.
Concepcion has a street dedicated to bar nightlife. It is called "Barrio estacion" due to is proximity to the train station. In this street you will find a lot of places to enjoy yourself and meet some young Chileans.
