'Green Island' is a national park in
Queensland (
Australia), 1394 km northwest of
Brisbane. The island began to form around 6000 years ago by nearby reef debris deposited through wave action. The island was named after British astronomer
Charles Green, the chief observer onboard
Captain Cook's ''
Endeavour'' in 1770.
