GROUND-PINE

'Ground-pine' is the common name given to at least three different species of plant. Most frequently it is applied to one of the clubmosses;

★ ''Lycopodium obscurum'' but sometimes also to

★ ''Lycopodium complanatum''.

★ The name is also used for ''Ajuga chamaepitys'' or yellow bugle, a small shrub which at some stages of its growth resembles pine seedlings and also smells somewhat similar when the leaves are crushed.
