GUTIUM

'Gutium', ''Mat Quti'', ''Mat Qurti'', ''(Land of Guti or Qurti people)'' was an ancient, hilly country in upper Mesopotamia, stretching from the Euphrates river forming its western boundary easterly to the Zagros mountains. Gutium existed as a geopolitical entity from the Sumerian era to the end of the Babylonian era. ''Gutium'' is generally identified with ''Goyim'' of Hebrew sources ''(ref Gen 14:1)'', and roughly corresponds to modern ''Kurdistan'' [1].
The people of Gutium had hostile relations with invading armies of Akkadians, Sumerians and Assyrians. Once a tribe of angry Gutians descended from the mountains, attacked the lands of Akkad and Sumer and ruled them for about a century, forming the Gutian dynasty of Sumer.
