'HMS' '''Saltash''' (J62) was a Royal Navy Hunt class minesweeper which was launched 25 June 1918 and served through latter part of the World War I as well as through all of World War II. She was involved in the evacuation of Dunkirk, during which, on June 1 1940 she sank HMS ''Havant'' (H32) after ''Havant'' had been heavily damaged by German aircraft. ''Saltash'' would later returned to northern France as part of the Normandy landings in 1944. ''Saltash'' was decommissioned on 13 March 1947.
HMS ''Saltash'' was armed with a 4-inch LA forward and a 12 pounder AA.
HMS ''Saltash'' was named after the town of Saltash in south-east Cornwall, United Kingdom.

HMS ''Saltash'' was the name of a fictitious Royal Navy River class frigate in the novel ''The Cruel Sea ''.
In film adaptation of the book ''Saltash'' became ''Saltash Castle'' and was "played" by a Castle class corvette, HMS ''Porchester Castle'' - pennant F362 as in the film.
