"'H'" is the 27th single released by Ayumi Hamasaki on July 24, 2002. The single included three A-sides, and was the top-selling single of 2002 in Japan. It was the only single to sell over a million copies that year, and also the last single by a female artist ever to sell over a million copies. To commemorate hitting the million mark in sales, this single was re-released Special Limited Edition on November 7, 2002.
Ayumi co-composed the three tracks with D.A.I under her pseudonym CREA. No music videos were shot to promote the single.
Hanabi was used in a in TV ad for the TU-KA Funstyle mobile phone and July 1st was the image song for a lipstick Kose Visee commercial. Ayumi appeared in both commercial campaigns.
independent was used as a song for the Baseball Cheer.[2]
H opened at #1 with 417,870 copies sold in its first week (Ayumi's largest opening sales for a single in 2002) and sold more than a million copies.[3] On the World Chart for Singles, it peaked at #39 in its second week.
