HALL, AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY

'Hall', is a small town in the north of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), Australia. It was founded in 1882, named after the first landholder in the area, Henry Hall. Hall is located just off the Barton Highway, at the north western end of the ACT, near the New South Wales border. In practical terms Hall might now be considered an outer suburb of Australia's capital Canberra.
Located at Hall besides the village is an equestrian park, playing fields, showground, and Hall Primary School, and a small shopping centre.

In the Hall area the rocks are all Silurian age volcanics.
Green grey and purple quartz andesite and dacite from the Hawkins Volcanics are under the village and extending up the Halls Creek valley.
Green-grey dacite and quartz andesite from the Hawkins Volcanics cover the surrounding areas including up to the New South Wales border, north to One Tree Hill, south east to the Harcourt Hill and south to the north edge of Belconnen.
Dark grey to green grey dacitic tuff is found over the other side of the New South Wales border, and also within the Australian Capital Territory near Gooromon Ponds Creek.
