HAMILTON HIGH SCHOOL (NEW JERSEY)

'Hamilton High School' (also known as 'Hamilton High School West') is a four-year comprehensive public high school located in Hamilton Township, in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Hamilton Township Public Schools.

★ Commonly referred to by locals as simply "West" to differentiate from Steinert High School (Hamilton High School East) and Nottingham High School (Hamilton High School North).

Marching Band


The Hamilton High School West Marching Band is a division of the Hamilton West Bands, which are composed of the Marching Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Jazz Bands. The Instrumental Program at Hamilton West was in place on the first day of school (September 8, 1930), and the first Director of Bands was Mr. Harlan A. Darling.
Presently, Mr. Brian Maher is the Director of Bands, and Mrs. Kristine Plumstead is the Assistant Director of Bands. Mr. Maher currently has three United States Scholastic Band Association, or commonly referred to as the USSBA New Jersey State Marching Band Championship Titles (as of 2006), and is one of the only Band Directors that write and arrange his own field show music for his competitive programs. He announces the upcoming year's competitive theme (a closely guarded secret) every year on January 1st for the upcoming Fall. The USSBA has its headquarters in Allentown, PA, and is made up of over seven hundred member bands throughout the United States.

Athletics


The Hamilton High School Hornets compete in the thirteen-member Colonial Valley Conference, which is composed of private and public high schools located in Mercer County, Monmouth County and Middlesex County, New Jersey, under the supervision of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).
The Boys' Basketball Team won the 2006 Group III State Championship, knocking off South Jersey Group III champion Deptford Township High School 49-39 in the semifinals and defeating Malcolm X Shabazz High School 66-34 in the Group III championship game on March 12, 2006, at Rutgers University.[1]
