'Hartburn' is a suburb of Stockton-on-Tees in England, situated to the west of the town centre.
The village was founded centuries ago and the surrounding area has been developed extensively, mostly with semi-detached housing, from the 1930s onwards. It is situated just off the A66 road to Darlington.
Two bus services run through Hartburn: the number 20 run by Arriva, and the 588/589 run by Alrite Travel. Services through the village, however, ceased with the removal of the 98/99 service, and subsequent re-routing of the 588 past Harper Parade.
There is a large green belt section stretching from Birkdale Road, parallel with Marrick Road and Grinton Road, towards Ropner Park, which is perfect for ball games, though problems have been created by dogs fouling due to their owners' lack of control. Ropner Park has recently had a lot of work done to it such as a new cafe and play area.
It is rumoured by the locals of Hartburn Village that the father of George Washington (US president) lived in Hartburn by the name of "George de Hartburn", but moved to Washington, County Durham, to take the surname "Washington". Therefore, had he not changed his name, the first US president might have been George Hartburn.
Glenn Conroy, aka The Count, alleged creator of the "hot shot parmo", resides in the area.
