HARVEY GOLDSMITH

'Harvey Goldsmith' CBE (b. 4 March, 1946 in Edgware, London, England [1]) was the co–organiser of The Live 8 concert in Hyde Park, London that took place on 2 July, 2005 together with Bob Geldof. Harvey Goldsmith is probably the United Kingdom's best known rock promoter and has been instrumental in developing the live touring industry in Europe. From acts as diverse as Pavarotti, Queen, Lord of the Dance, The Who, Van Morrison, Madonna, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd and the Earls Court spectacular presentations of Carmen and Aida, Harvey has promoted some of the most prominent performers and shows in live music.
Starting out as a pharmacy student in Brighton, where he founded Club 66, a successful weekly student live music function, and organised larger events at the Brighton Metropole.
Harvey soon realised that live music was his true calling. His career has spanned four decades and highlights include promoting London's Live Aid concert at Wembley in 1985 and more recently Live8 in London's Hyde Park. Harvey has also presented numerous charity concerts and television specials for the Prince's Trust and more recently his Teenage Cancer shows at the Royal Albert Hall, presented with Roger Daltrey, have become an annual fixture in the London social calendar.
Goldsmith is currently in the Channel 4 show ''Get Your Act Together with Harvey Goldsmith'' in which ailing performers are offered help to hit the big time again.
