HATCHER PASS
'Hatcher Pass' (3886 ft./1148 m.) is a high mountain pass in the Talkeetna Mountains. The nearest communities are Fishhook to the South and Willow to the West.
It is a well frequented recreation area, with outdoor activities including hiking, camping, skiing, etc. The Hatcher Pass lodge offers food and lodging.
A copper/gold mining operation previously extended throughout the area, and relics of the time are still apparent.
This alpine area is frequented by several buddhist wanderers who can be seen on or near its many summits during all seasons.
Notable local wanderers include Lao-tzu, Japhy Ryder, and Andrew Weaver.
