HAU GIANG PROVINCE
'Háºu Giang Province' (old; Vietnamese: ''Háºu Giang'') became Cần ThÆ¡ Province during/after 1975. Cần ThÆ¡ was the capital of Cần ThÆ¡ Province.
In late 2004, Cần Thơ City and some surrounding cities became Cần Thơ Municipality (Thà nh Phố Cần Thơ).
The remainder of Cần ThÆ¡ Province (old) became Háºu Giang Province (new).
Vị Thanh is the capital of 'Háºu Giang Province'. It has an industrial zone of 880,000 m² (217 acres). There are roads, National Highway 61 (which leads to National Highway 1 which leads to Cần ThÆ¡ Municipality on the Hau River which leads to Hồ Chà Minh Municipality), and water connections by canal and river to the Háºu River.
