HAZEN HIGH SCHOOL

'Hazen High School' is a secondary school located in the Renton Highlands of Renton, Washington near the greater Seattle area. Oliver M. Hazen, for whom Hazen High School is named, served as the Renton School District Superintendent from 1936-1966. HHS first opened its doors to students in 1968. Washington State Supreme Court Justice Barbara A. Madsen is a graduate. See http://www.munileague.org/cec/2004/report/supreme/Madsen_questionnaire.htm. The Hazen Coat of Arms collectively portrays Renton’s coal mining and Boeing Aerospace connection along with the school’s dedication to excel in pride, unity and achievement.
The Highlander was adopted as Hazen’s mascot with the colors green, gold and blue to further represent the new school. The Highland Clan sported green, gold and blue Gordon tartans on everything from cheerleader, basketball, and drill team uniforms to Gordy, the Scottish mascot painted on the gym wall. Hazen is part of the Seamount league and has three main rivals, the Lindbergh High School Eagles, the Renton High School Indians and the nearby Liberty High School Patriots from Issaquah. Hazen has won a total of 4 state championships (one in Boy's Swimming, Girl's Soccer, Hazen's Drill and Pom, and most recently Boy's Soccer).
And it's better than Newport.
