HIGH DESERT MAVERICKS


The 'High Desert Mavericks' are a minor league baseball team in Adelanto, California, USA. Their Major League parent club is the Seattle Mariners. They are a "high-A" class team in the California League, and had been a farm team of the Kansas City Royals since 2005 before the switch. The Mavericks play home games at Stater Bros. Stadium; opened in 1991, the park seats 3,808 fans. It was called Mavericks Stadium before being renamed at the start of the 2006 season. Prior to moving to Adelanto, the team was located in Riverside, California and was known as the Red Wave from 1988 to 1990.

★ The Mavericks nickname is the Mavs, which is what most of the fans call them.

★ Their championship in 1993, while affiliated with the Florida Marlins, was the Mavs' 3rd year of existence, and the Marlins' first. Thus, they became the first Marlins farm team to win a championship.
