Hilliard Davidson Theatre
Hilliard Davidson has one of the finest and most acclaimed theatre programs in the state and nation[1]. Encompassing both the acting and technical theatre communities, Davidson produces five productions each year, including one children's show, one musical and three general comedies or dramas. In the summer of 2007, Hilliard Davidson took their production of Schoolhouse Rock overseas to Edinburgh, Scotland for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival[2].
Drama Club and Tech Crew are governed by student officers, elected by other members of the Davidson theatre community. Together with the drama teachers, these students decide the annual productions. The 2007-2008 Davidson Season includes Alice in Wonderland, I Hate Hamlet, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Spoon River Anthology, and Guys and Dolls[3]. Davidson Theatre also provides technical and production support for the Choir, Orchestra and Band at Hilliard Davidson High School, helping to produce their annual concerts. These concerts occur many times throughout the year and are free to the public. Notable events include the Choir's Spring Pops
Concert and the Jazz Band Concert (held jointly with Hilliard Darby).

Drama Club
Drama Club consists of actors and actresses who perform and help produce the five productions held during the school year at Hilliard Davidson. Positions include lead actors, chorus members (for musicals and some plays), understudies, and production assistants. Members of Drama Club also assist in the management of several special events throughout the school year, including Davidson's Drama Camp and Trick-or-Treat so Kids Can Eat (a project encompassing both the Hilliard Davidson and Hilliard Darby theatre organizations).
Tech Crew
Technicians at Davidson build the sets for all productions at the school. They also organize props, design sound and lighting, and '''run''' the productions ('''run''' meaning to control all technical aspects of a performance, including stage management, fly lines, sound board, light board, and follow spots). Tech Crew members maintain the Performing Arts Center, ensuring that is capable of meeting the needs of other in-school or outside groups.

"We Suck" Football Prank
Kyle Garchar, a senior at Hilliard Davidson High School in 2007-2008, carried out a prank at the Hilliard Davidson-Hilliard Darby High School football game, the first meeting ever between the two schools. Garchar organized for "pep signs" to be passed out to Darby parents, staff and administrators who were sitting in three sections at Crew Stadium the night of the game, and for them to hold the signs up at a given time. The signs supposedly spelled out "Go Darby."
When the signs were held up by the Darby students and teachers, the sign read "We Suck." This prank was based on one previously played by Yale students against Harvard at their annual football game. Kyle was suspended from school for three days and barred from attending any athletic and social events for his final year at Davidson.
As a result of this disciplinary action, and of the ingenious of the prank itself, newspapers and television news programs have published articles and segments supporting Kyle's case and criticizing the acts of the Hilliard Davidson administration and Hilliard City School District administration. Several "Free Kyle" petitions have been circulated throughout the school and community.
Garchar conducted the prank with the help of his girlfriend, Danielle Jewell, a student at Hilliard Darby. A video of the prank is currently available on YouTube. Although administration at Davidson asked Kyle Garchar to remove the video (which he did willingly), other YouTube members re-uploaded the video, which already had around 190,000 hits.
Of special note, this action came in the aftermath of Hilliard Darby parent and administrator complaints over Davidson "Beat Darby" t-shirts, which were sold at Davidson during the week before the game.
Media Praise
On Sunday, September 2, CNN featured an ONN news story about the Davidson senior's prank[5]. Several other articles about the prank were featured in the Columbus Dispatch:
★ Senior Pays for 'Legendary' Prank from the Columbus Dispatch, August 30.
★ Punishments as Varied as the Crimes from the Columbus Dispatch, August 31.
★ Prankster Deserves Praise, not Penalties from Ann Fisher's commentary in the Columbus Dispatch, August 31.
Reinstatement
At the Hilliard Davidson-Independence football game on Friday, September 7, Kyle Garcher designed another sign display, reading "Go Cats." Doing this allowed Kyle to begin attending school social events once again. Despite his efforts, Davidson students who were charged with holding the signs did not display them correctly, and the message was not spelled out, consisting of only blue and white patches. The failure of the "reinstatement sign" will not effect Garcher in any way.
