HOLMES CENTER
'Holmes Center' (George M. Holmes Convocation Center) is a 8,576-seat multi-purpose arena in Boone, North Carolina. It was built in 2000 and is home to the Appalachian State University Mountaineers basketball team. The inaugural event was a men's basketball game held on November 17, 2000 between the Mountaineers and the North Carolina Tar Heels in which UNC won 99-69. The facility replaced Varsity Gymnasium.
